40 Days Fasting & Praying
Psalm 107:21-22 “Let them give thanks unto the LORD for His mercy, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! And let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with singing. ”
40 Days Prayer and Fasting is an annual event where the people of IFGF GISI worldwide pray and fast together. This year, we will be fasting from the period of August 18 to September 26.
It’s time for God’s children to rise up and share the gospel throughout the world. iCare is not only a program centered but people centered. We must make this sacrifice for God’s people. Through prayer we can reach for people!
There are 5 sacrifices so that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can be spread throughout the world. Those sacrifices are:
1. Yourselves and I - Romans 12:1-2 I therefore urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercies, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices that are holy and pleasing to God, for this is the reasonable way for you to worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but continually be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you may be able to determine what God’s will is-what is proper, pleasing, and perfect.
o Jesus wants your bodies and mine? Why? Because Jesus gave His body for you and me.
o Worship God with all your heart and body: all the body must be surrendered to Jesus - eyes, mouth, ears, etc. We need to speak positive words. Phil 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy-keep thinking about these things.
2. Sacrifice of Praise - Give your praise. Hebrews 13:15 Korban Pujian – Give your praise. Ibrani 13:15 Therefore, through him let us always bring God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.
Psalm 69:31-32 “ And it shall please the LORD better than a bullock that hath horns and hoofs.
The humble shall see it, and be glad; ye that seek after God, let your heart revive
o 40 Days of Fasting of speaking words full of thanksgiving.
o Psalm 119: 108 Accept, I beseech Thee, the freewill-offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me Thine ordinances.
o Mat 12:36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give an account for every thoughtless word they utter
3. Sacrifice of Prayer
o Your prayer is a sacrifice for God.
o Psalm 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth as incense before Thee, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
o Prayer = offering of incense such as prayer of saints - Why? Read Revelations 8:1-4
o Heaven stay still for half an hour which is the incense that is in the Golden Bowl in the middle of God’s Temple, full of God’s glory. Lamentation 3:25, Jeremiah 17:5 - you rely upon God through prayer.
4. Sacrifice your Wealth – Hebrews 13:15-16
o Not only just sacrifice of prayer and time, but also your physical wealth and good deeds.
o In this 40 days prayer and fasting, you can share your love to other people by using your lunch money to give to those people who are in need. This is a part of you caring for other people.
5. Give a sacrifice of a broken heart. Psalm 51;9
Psalm 51: 9 Hide Thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
